Daegu is the 3rd largest city with a 2.5 million population and is located in the Southeastern part of the Korean Peninsular. The name of Daegu, Big Hills, originated from its geographic environment since the city is surrounded by mountains. Daegu has been playing a pivotal role in the areas of education, administration, economy, transportation and culture & arts in Korea for the last 400 years.
Daegu has led the Korea’s economy with its textile industry in the 60s and 70s and has been well known for its metal & machinery, autoparts and IT industries. And based on these traditional industries now the city is trying to transform into a leading city of future cars including EV and autonomous driving, clean energy, medical industry including medical tourism, IoT and smart city, and water industry.
